Karim Benzema welcomes the award of the 2034 World Cup to Saudi Arabia, which he considers “a dream come true”.

The awarding of the 2034 World Cup to Saudi Arabia caused many football personalities to react, including Karim Benzema, Al-Ittihad player since 2023. The former Real Madrid striker expressed his joy in a video published by his club, welcoming this decision which, according to him, highlights the infrastructure and the enthusiasm of Saudi fans.

“The country and the fans are ready”

Very enthusiastic, Benzema said: “I am very happy, like all Saudis. It’s a dream come true. Those who visit Saudi Arabia see the many matches and the infrastructure. There is nothing imaginary. Congratulations to Saudi Arabia. The country is ready, the fans are ready. I hope it will be a great World Cup for everyone.”

This message comes as Saudi Arabia is under fire from certain NGOs, who point to human rights problems. Despite this, Benzema was confident about the country’s ability to stage a successful tournament.

Shared reactions in world football

Other big figures, like Cristiano Ronaldo, also spoke, but on different subjects. Benzema’s former Real Madrid teammate celebrated Portugal, Spain and Morocco hosting the 2030 World Cup. He remains ambassador for the 2034 World Cup in Saudi Arabia.
