José Mourinho, now coach of Fenerbahçe, fueled discussions in Spain during his match against Athletic Club in the Europa League. The former Real Madrid coach commented on a possible return to the Merengues while making a dig at Lamine Yamal, the young nugget of FC Barcelona.

“I’m still very Real Madrid”

During an interview with the Cadena SERMourinho expressed his attachment to the Madrid club: “I’m still very Real Madrid. Today they have the best coach in the world, my friend Carlo Ancelotti, who is doing an exceptional job. In the future, it will depend on Florentino Perez, whether he chooses a progressing coach like Xabi Alonso or an experienced coach.” However, Mourinho has not closed the door on a return, highlighting his strong connection with the club he managed between 2010 and 2013.

Preference for Nico Williams and tackle for Lamine Yamal

When asked about Spain’s young talents, Mourinho said:
“Everyone talks about Lamine Yamal, he’s a wonderful boy. But personally, I prefer Nico Williams. I hope he ends up at Real Madrid.” A statement which caused a reaction, especially when he corrected it by mentioning that the Madrid club was already counting on Vinicius Junior to shine in this position.
