With such changing scenarios, we understand better why the Bundesliga costs 1 billion euros. The meeting between Wolfsburg and Mainz this afternoon certainly did not look like a shock, but it kept all its promises (4-3) and reminded us of the extent to which the German championship was an open championship. At the start of the match, Mainz opened the scoring through Nebel (0-1, 11th), before Algerian international Mohamed Amoura responded eight minutes later (1-1, 19th).

It was then the turn of the insatiable Jonathan Burkardt to join the party, and give the visitors the advantage by already scoring his 10th goal of the season in the Bundesliga (1-2, 39th). But nothing to discourage the locals, who equalized again thanks to Tiago Tomas, on a serve from Amoura (2-2, 58th). And if their laxity was once again punished on Nebel’s goal, his second of the evening (2-3, 66th), they came back to score again, this time thanks to Wind (3-3, 84th), found by his compatriot Maehle. But the highlight of the show came on the gong, since this same Wind inexplicably offered victory to his team, in the 90+4th minute (4-3). A stunning victory, which allows Wolfsburg to climb to 5th place. After leading three times, Mainz can harbor regrets and is in 9th place.
