After the France team’s draw against Jamaica (0-0) for its entry into the Women’s World Cup, Minister Bérangère Couillard published two tweets that were awkward to say the least.
The France team is not the only one to have missed its start, Sunday, during the Women’s World Cup. While the Blues were held in check by Jamaica (0-0), the new Minister Delegate for Equality between Women and Men (and the Fight against Discrimination), Bérangère Couillard, made several rather gross errors when tweeting on the subject.
The native of Rennes began by congratulating Les Bleues, “who stand up to Jamaican players”. However, this is clearly a poor performance for the teammates of Wendie Renard, who faced the 43rd nation in the Fifa ranking. The minister no doubt wanted to send a positive message, but she realized her error in judgment by deleting this first tweet.
Second attempt in stride: Bérangère Couillard began her new tweet by quoting… Corinne Deacon. However, the former defender has not been at the head of the Bleues since March, since she was sacked and replaced by Hervé Renard. Result, a new deleted tweet, and a third try which will (finally) be the right one for the one who is also a deputy for the 7th district of Gironde.
After deleting her tweet where she said that the Blues stood up to the Jamaicans (yet very inferior), the minister @BCouillard33 redid a tweet and quote Corinne Deacon… who is no longer a French coach.
