Patrice Lair, the former coach of OL and women’s PSG, was very harsh on Hervé Renard after Les Bleues’ draw against Jamaica.
The French women’s team began its journey to the Women’s World Cup on tiptoe. Opposed to Jamaica, it failed to win or score a single goal. A counter-performance for which Hervé Renard bears the responsibility as coach.
Patrice Lair charges Hervé Renard
Even if this is only the first match, the tricolor coach is already facing outside criticism. Among those who have pointed out these shortcomings is Patrice Lair, a well-known figure in women’s football.
In an interview with L’Equipe, he urged Renard to make a lot of changes to his team in the following match against Brazil if he wants to avoid a premature return home: “We absolutely have to correct the physical impact because we had to move around a lot. It lacks impact in the middle, we are soft and the opponents have understood this, whether it is Australia or Jamaica. »
“Battled in the impact and with too much technical waste”
He went on to criticize the team’s attacking animation: “We didn’t create a lot of chances. Unfortunately today, we don’t necessarily have the players to make the difference in front (…) What I also regret enormously is that we haven’t seen strikes from 20, 25 meters which can unblock the situation against reinforced defenses ”.
He ended by deploring the unspecified first period delivered by the Blues: “It’s a bit disappointing because everyone was expecting a win. The first half was particularly difficult for the Blues, beaten in the impact and who had too much technical waste. With a lot of lost balls from the first raises, we were too fast in the duel against a very aggressive team”.
