Seven games without a win, a series of bitter defeats and management adrift: Manchester City has not put one foot in front of the other for several weeks. The champion ofEngland
is a stalled machine which has a series of poor performances on the national and European stages.

And it’s not just the level of the players that worries observers. Pep Guardiola’s attitude is also the subject of much debate in England. After the episode of his scratches on the head, the Catalan technician was once again talked about last Sunday.

Guardiola pays for Liverpool and Mourinho fans

Guardiola indeed provoked Liverpool supporters by brandishing six fingers in front of an Anfield stand. A gesture intended to recall the six league titles won by Manchester City since the start of the Spaniard’s mandate (2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024).

It did not take much for the British broadcasts to draw a parallel with the equally eloquent gesture of José Mourinho, who brandished three fingers at the Chelsea supporters when he was jeered by them during his return to Stamford Bridge as manager of Manchester United.

On the decline since this symbolic gesture, Mourinho has since been downgraded. Can Guardiola follow in his footsteps? “ I don’t wish that on myself, even if José and I are a bit alike. But he has three Champion titles, and I have six », blurted the Catalan, definitely more teasing than ever.
