Scorer shortly after the hour mark (1-1, 65th), Spanish midfielder Oihan Sancet – who came on during the second half – scored twice in the last quarter of an hour (1-2, 78th) to give victory to Athletic. With this success (2-1), Bilbao is in 4th place. Rayo fell to 13th place.
