The ordeal continues for OGC Nice. Already in bad shape in the Europa League, the Aiglons dug deeper by losing heavily against Glasgow Rangers (1-4) on Thursday evening.
The Azuréens are not helped. As Franck Haise recalled at a press conference, the Gym was already decimated by injuries, deprived of 12 players for this meeting, including suspensions. A 13th element joined the infirmary, with the exit of Youssouf Ndayishimiye in the 19th minute, due to a thigh problem. And Mohamed-Ali Cho, who entered the game, also suffers from his adductors.
Nice in great difficulty
The results remain no less disastrous for Nice, which only took two small points in five days and is an infamous 35th out of 36 in the standings. Added to this are the always embarrassing images of the Allianz-Riviera, half empty for this European poster. There were officially 18,038 spectators, in a stadium that can hold double that number.
Despite this, all hope is not lost for Nice, French ugly duckling in this European season (with PSG). With an affordable schedule (Union Saint-Gilloise, Elfsborg and Bodo-Glimt), the Gym still has a chance of making the play-offs, even if it will undoubtedly be necessary to take at least 7 points from the next three matches. The Football Rankings account gives the Aiglons a 25% chance of qualifying.
