OM, Bravo doesn’t understand De Zerbi

OM have had a fairly decent start to the season in Ligue 1. After 12 days, the Marseille team is in 3rde place in the ranking, nine units behind the Parisian leader but only three behind Monaco. Roberto De Zerbi is therefore not doing so badly in his first season as coach in France.

That being said, the Italian does not succeed at everything within his new team. For example, his troops perform very poorly at home. Furthermore, they also cannot completely control their opponents. And their goals scored generally occur in transition phases.

“De Zerbi must be surprised”

This observation was notably made by Daniel Bravo, former player of the club. In the columns of La Provence, he confided this Friday:
“It’s a little surprising. We always said that De Zerbi was about possession of the ball and that he played well, it built the actions. In fact, I find that OM are a formidable counterattacking team.”

De Zerbi still cannot find the solution at the Vélodrome.

“OM is a team that likes depth and space, moving forward faster; she has more difficulty when having to play in small spaces. This is not the style of De Zerbi that we knew. Even he must be surprised and must work on it”he continued.

“OM must be better in possession”

The BeIN Sports consultant does not despair, however, and is convinced that the former Brighton manager will manage to get the most out of his training: “To be better at the Vélodrome, he must be better in possession and find the solution in small spaces. OM has the players for it. It’s basically a question of trust.”

Sunday evening, when Monaco hosts at home, we will know if De Zerbi’s OM have progressed or not in this area or if they have definitively become a team that only performs when it has to counter.
