LOSC continues to surprise in the Champions League. By winning Wednesday evening on the Bologna pitch (1-2), the Mastiffs secured their third victory in five days. A performance which places the team in 12th place in the ranking, virtually qualified for the playoffs.
At a press conference, Bruno Genesio did not hide his pride: “It’s beyond our expectations. With the draw we had and the difficulty of the preliminary rounds, few teams would have bet on 10 points after five days.”
The coach also praised the mastery of his team, highlighting an effective mix of youth and experience.
A confident but cautious LOSC for the future
Genesio particularly highlighted young talents like Ayyoub Bouaddi, Mukau Gala, and Matias Fernandez-Pardo, as well as the tactical contribution of experienced players. “We played high, with vertical play and a lot of running. We would have even deserved to win more by a wide margin,” he analyzed.
However, the northern coach remains measured on qualification:
“We have taken an important step, but with this new format, we lack perspective. It’s up to us to negotiate the next match against Sturm Graz well to see better.” With 10 points in five games, Lille can hope to continue their European adventure while continuing to perform in Ligue 1.
