Liverpool impressed by winning against Real Madrid (2-0) on the 5th day of the Champions League. Despite this solid performance, manager Arne Slot refuses to get excited.

The Dutch coach, still unconvinced by the new format of the competition, put this success into perspective: “It’s always good to win a big match because you play so many good players. But for me, it would be more valuable if we qualified.” Slot believes that victories in more advanced phases, such as the 8th or the quarters, would send a stronger signal.

Liverpool full of confidence, but a pragmatic coach

With five victories in as many matches, the Reds, also leaders of the Premier League, are getting closer to the round of 16. Arne Slot nevertheless recalled the importance of keeping your feet on the ground: “This new format is strange, and it’s hard to say how much these wins matter.” A cautious speech which reflects the demands of the Dutch technician, despite the remarkable dynamics of his team.
