DAZN, the big announcement

It’s been three months since Ligue 1 was broadcast by DAZN – the British streaming platform which, after tough negotiations, was able to seduce the Professional Football League (LFP) to take over no less than eight out of nine matches each day of the season. championship.

To do this, DAZN has agreed to an annual investment of 400 million euros – supplemented by 100 million euros from beIN Sports for the remaining poster and marketing rights. An income deemed insufficient by the main players in the French elite, to whom a mirage of one billion had once been suggested. And yet…

However, this windfall may not survive next season – DAZN being able to activate from the 1ster December 2025 an exit clause from the agreement supposedly concluded until June 2029. And this if the threshold of 1.5 million subscribers is not reached.

Subscription at 14.99 euros per month

As it stands, it seems complicated – not to say impossible – the estimate published at the beginning of November hardly gives the majority broadcaster more than 500,000 subscribers, at best. So to force fate, DAZN tries everything for everything. After lowering its initial prices by 10 euros in the run-up to the Classic between OM and PSG, the subscription has been reduced again.

From Friday, and until December 2, as part of the famous Black Friday, it will cost 14.99 euros monthly – compared to 19.99 currently – to subscribe to the so-called “unlimited” plan with a one-year commitment. . To see the impact on the number of new subscribers.
