Gianluigi Donnarumma is no longer one of Luis Enrique’s first choices. We had confirmation of this on Tuesday evening with his non-starting during the Champions League clash against Bayern.
As was already the case last weekend against Toulouse, the Italian was preferred to the Russian Matvey Safonov. This is a real downgrade and he has not experienced anything like it since his first season in Paris when he was in competition with the Costa Rican Keylor Navas.

Luis Enrique’s decision can be discussed after the fact. Safonov made an error which cost the French champions the match. We wonder if with Donnarumma in the cage the outcome would have been different or not.
