No exploit for PSG in Munich

Paris SG extended its way of the cross in the Champions League by losing this Tuesday against Bayern.

PSG is still not taking off in the Champions League. The French champion even continues to sink, with a third defeat conceded in five days. This time, it was against Bayern Munich that Luis Enrique’s men surrendered. A fairly logical defeat although conceded on the smallest of gaps (0-1).

The Parisian coach had called on his men to raise their level of play to hope to achieve the feat at the Allianz Arena. The latter did not succeed. Or only for half an hour, before collapsing. An error from their goalkeeper, which resulted in a goal from Kim Min-Jae (38e), completely ruined them. They never recovered.

Safonov, a costly mistake

Preferred over Gianluigi Donnarumma against all expectations, Safonov therefore failed to justify the trust placed in him. His lack of confidence on the fatal corner was glaring. It is not certain that with the Italian, Paris would have had a better fate in Bavaria but it is certain that the Russian squandered a good part of his credit with the blunder of which he was the author.

Paris could blame its last defense for the goal taken. That being said, the German opening score was anything but undeserved. And she could have intervened much earlier. Wasn’t it… Safonov. The latter had indeed started his match well by interposing against Musiala (7e) and Sané (12e). PSG can also be happy not to have returned to the locker room with a greater disadvantage. Kingsley Coman almost hurt him again, with a shot passed slightly over (42e).

Dembélé destroys PSG’s chances

The second half saw the visitors show some semblance of a reaction. But, all their efforts went up in smoke at the 57e minute when Ousmane Dembélé received a second yellow card for an uncontrolled tackle. Already in difficulty at 10 against 11 with only one real scoring opportunity in his favor (Dembélé 32e), the French champion could hardly hope to create an illusion in numerical inferiority. The last half hour of the game mainly saw him suffer and fight not to lose his pants. In this respect, the objective has been achieved. Despite a clear control, Bayern did not score again. Only Musiala found the amount in the 72e.

The results of the evening still remain negative for the Ile-de-France residents. With this new setback, PSG seriously compromises its chances of qualifying for the next round. So yes, he remains master of his destiny for a passage in the playoffs, but it will take a real flawless performance in the last three games to avoid falling by the wayside. This is not really the destiny that we predicted for this candidate for the continental coronation at the start of the competition.
