Why Nantes does not fire Kombouaré

FC Nantes is in crisis. The defeat conceded against Le Havre (0-2), Sunday evening at home, was one too many. Despite this, it seems that Antoine Kombouaré is not at all threatened in his position. He has the support of both the players and the management.

The Canaries are having their worst start to a season in eighteen years. They are currently roadblockers and this is the reason why the Loire Brigade rebelled during the weekend. Protests from supporters which led to two interruptions of the meeting. The club can now pay the price, with possible sanctions from the League.

Kombouaré is quiet

The situation is alarming. And yet, Kombouaré is certain to keep his place on the bench. For what reason? Because his dismissal would cost Waldemir Kita too much. The latter should still have to take 2 to 3 million euros out of his pocket in compensation. A sacrifice he is not willing to make, especially in these difficult economic times and with no guarantee that a possible replacement will do better.

Kombouaré, who is in his second experience on the FCN bench, can therefore sleep soundly. At least until the next poor performance of his team. Because at some point, a fuse blows and he is best suited to embody it.
