Enzo Maresca lectures David Coote. At a press conference, the Italian technician became the first Premier League coach to speak out on the controversy concerning the ousted referee. As a reminder, the official was suspended after the publication of a video in which he appears to be under a substance (a white powder is visible on the table) and where he insults Jürgen Klopp and Liverpool. To make matters worse, this video would have been filmed during the Euro, in the hotel room allocated by UEFA to the English referee a few hours before a match where the latter was officiating as a video assistant.

“I saw it (the video). This sort of thing, it’s not just any reaction – whether it’s from a player, a manager, a referee, a normal human being not involved in football – the reaction is not the best because there are things that are not correct to say. It doesn’t matter that he’s a referee. If, as a manager, I say the same thing, it’s wrong. If you, as a journalist, say the same thing, there is something wrong. So it doesn’t matter whether he’s a referee or not. Any human being who says such things is not good.”said the Chelsea coach towards the 42-year-old.
