The American club Inter Miami, where Lionel Messi plays, has been without a coach since the departure of Tata Martino. Several names of technicians have been put forward for this position. And among them is that of Zinedine Zidane.
Miami dreams of Zidane
Former teammate of Beckham, co-owner of Miami, Zinedine Zidane would be the Floridians’ dream choice. The French legend seemed inaccessible, but Miami showed that he knew how to make big shots. So why not dream big?
Zidane has not appeared on the bench since he decided to leave Real Madrid in 2021. He managed the Merengue club twice, from 2016 to 2018 and from 2019 to 2021, winning three Champions Leagues , two La Liga titles, two Supercopas and two Club World Cup trophies. The French legend has managed to assemble a locker room full of enormous talent and, in some cases, oversized egos. And he transformed all these beautiful people into a winning machine.
He has not given up on the Blues
Of course, accepting the job in Miami would be a regression, especially since, if rumors are to be believed, Zidane is still waiting to take charge of the France team. However, if he landed in South Beach, he would have the honor of becoming the first – and probably only – man to have coached both Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
In 2023, Zidane attended the US Open Cup final as Beckham’s special guest, meaning he is already somewhat familiar with Miami and has seen this team in action. So could he be lured to Florida by his friend and former club teammate? This hypothesis is in any case anything but incongruous.
