Not all of Africa’s big guns will necessarily be present next January for the 2025 edition of the CAN. Among the nations that will have to miss this continental high mass is Guinea.
Michel Dussuyer’s selection only finished 3e of its group by losing its final qualifying match against Tanzania. While they were 2nd in the standings before the match, the Guineas conceded a goal in the 61ste
to which they were unable to respond. With 9 points taken in 6 days, they are therefore ahead of their opponent of the day and also the DR Congo (10 points).
Guinea will not see the CAN
The last time that Sily National missed a final phase of the CAN was in 2017. During the previous edition in Ivory Coast, Naby Keita and his teammates even reached the quarter-final stage.
The surprise is all the greater since Guinea managed last June to beat Vladimir Petkovic’s Algeria on home soil (2-1), as part of the World Cup qualifiers.
