Faced with this crisis of results, Marquinhos stepped up to ask for support from the Auriverde people.

This is my third World Cup cycle and I can say with certainty that everyone here came to wear the Brazilian team jersey with a lot of pride, a lot of faith, a lot of hope and a lot of dignity. As far as I’m concerned, every time I come here, it’s with a lot of pride and happiness,” the Brazilian captain said at a press conference.

“Wearing the Brazilian team jersey is a privilege for everyone here. We know that many people support and follow the Brazilian team. We see the children at the door of our hotel, who are very proud to see the players. So never lose that passion, because it’s Brazil, it’s the Brazilians and we on the team are very proud and very honored to be here.” On the night of Tuesday to Wednesday (1:45 a.m. French time), Brazil will face Uruguay in qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.
