Luciano Spalletti and Italy still have the words of Mike Maignan stuck in their throats. After the French debacle at the Parc des Princes against the Italian neighbor (1-3) last September, the Blues goalkeeper made strong remarks against the Squadra Azzurra. In the locker room, the 29-year-old goalkeeper was furious because of a defeat against a team of which only two or three players would have a place in the France team, in his words.
A statement which made yellow laugh on the other side of the Alps and which remained in the head of the Italian coach, Luciano Spalletti. “It will not be easy, because we face strong opponents, I was even told that only two or three of our players could play in these selections”quipped the former Napoli coach at a press conference, before the new confrontation between the two teams which will be held this Sunday at 8:45 p.m.
