The rivalry between France and Argentina has become one of the most intense in international football in recent years. After the victory of the Blues against the Albiceleste in the round of 16 of the 2018 World Cup, the two teams met in the final of the 2022 World Cup for an epic remake which, this time, turned in favor of the Argentines in a final memorable match.
More recently, last summer, during the Paris Olympic Games, the two nations faced each other again, this time through their respective Olympic selections. The French team led by Thierry Henry won, an event which marked the Argentinian goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez. The Aston Villa goalkeeper did not appreciate the attitude of the Bleuets after their success. Note, however, that the Argentine players also distinguished themselves by singing racist chants towards players of the France team after their success in the Copa América in July.

I feel no hatred towards France”announced the double winner of the Lev Yashin trophy for France Football. “The French are lovely people. When they won the 2018 World Cup, they also upset Argentina. It’s part of football. They are just rivals for us because they are good. »
“On the other hand, I did not appreciate what happened at the Olympic Games. The French celebrated in front of our noses, kicked us and called us arrogant. There was anger in them. The supporters pay their ticket, they can do what they want, but the players have crossed the line. There must be respect between professionals”concluded Dibu Martinez.
