With the departures of Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba at the end of their respective contracts (to join Inter Miami alongside Lionel Messi), the hierarchy of captains has inevitably been shaken up at FC Barcelona. Enough to force the Catalan coach, Xavi Hernandez, to give more responsibilities to new players.
Indeed, Barça formalized this Friday the new list of wearers of the armband at the Blaugranas: Sergi Roberto, second vice-captain last year, becomes the first captain of the first team. He will always be followed by Marc-André ter Stegen. Two new executives join this closed circle: Ronald Araujo and Frenkie de Jong.
