The Court of Arbitration for Sport has lifted the recruitment ban imposed on OM in connection with the transfer of Pape Gueye.

A great threat is moving away for Olympique de Marseille! The Marseille club will not be banned from recruiting for a year following the transfer of Pape Gueye.

OM had been given such a sanction because the Senegalese midfielder had terminated his contract with Watford, where he was to join, to finally join Canebière. Sanctioned by Fifa in January 2022, the club of president Pablo Longoria had filed an appeal before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), a suspensive appeal. And according to L’Equipe, the CAS has lifted the sanction imposed on OM.

Pape Gueye is however fined 2.5 million euros, but his club will be able to continue its operations on the transfer market. Good news for the very active President Longoria, who has already completed the arrivals of Geoffrey Kondogbia, Renan Lodi and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
