FC Barcelona is on cloud nine. The results obtained by the Catalans are more than satisfactory, the game offered by Hansi Flick’s team is a delight and the club was in the spotlight during the Ballon d’Or ceremony with Aitana Bonmati and Lamine Yamal. Everything is going well in the best of all possible worlds, but at the same time, management must still continue to work hard. Especially since there are four more or less complicated files – each on a different scale – to manage.
This is what everyday life explains Sport. Concretely, this concerns the contractual situation of four players at the end of their contract in 2026. The first on the list is none other than Pedri, and it is a priori the least problematic file. Deco wants to extend the Canarian, and discussions with the player’s agent are going in the right direction. The whimsical midfielder only thinks about continuing to shine at Barça. The signing of his new contract should occur during this season.
Two more complex cases
Gavi is more or less in a similar situation. He also wants to stay, and Barça considers him a key element for the present and the future. It’s a little less advanced because discussions have not yet started with the Andalusian’s entourage, but the people of Barcelona are optimistic. As for Ronald Araujo, it’s more complicated. While he is expected to return from injury soon, the Uruguayan defender has often been announced as a potential starter recently. He would rather like to stay, and it is reciprocal, but the positions of each still remain quite distant from each other.
The Frenkie de Jong case is the most complex. The agent and the player have not appreciated certain gestures from Barça in recent times, notably when the club tried to push him towards the exit door. Within the club, we are even afraid that he will stay until 2026 without extending and decide to leave free then. Hansi Flick appreciates it enormously, but this is not the case for everyone internally… A complex file therefore, on which a decision will quickly have to be made…
