Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola admits he was impressed by Sporting CP coach Ruben Amorim. The one we are tipping to succeed Erik Ten Hag at Old Trafford.
Sporting announced that Manchester United were ready to pay the €10 million buyout clause in Amorim’s contract. Asked about the Portuguese, Guardiola said on Tuesday:
“All I can say is that I played against Ruben’s Sporting Lisbon team twice, a season or two ago, and the opposition pressure was really, really good.”
Guardiola waits to see for Ruben Amorim
“And look this season, he is undefeated and wins every match in the Portuguese League and the Champions League, with the same points as us. He is therefore a high level manager“, continued the Catalan technician.
While expressing his admiration for Amorim, Guardiola is careful not to predict success for the latter in England. “ I don’t know what will happen, because what happened here, in my experience, doesn’t mean it works for others. The manager, the team, the club, the structures, the physios, the doctors, the players, it’s a lot of things.”
