The English champion club has just locked out one of the strong men in its starting eleven.

Manchester City is currently working on the pitch, but also behind the scenes. The English champion club has started negotiations with Josko Gvardiol over a new contract.

According to the Daily Star, the Sky Blues board wants to extend the defender’s contract by two years, which runs until 2028. As part of this new agreement, the Croatian international’s salary will increase from €145,000 to €180. 000 € per week.

Manchester City secures its rear base

In August 2023, Gvardiol left RB Leipzig for Manchester for 90 million euros. This is one of the most expensive transfers in Eastlands history. Only Jack Grealish was recruited more expensively (€117.5 million).

The 22-year-old has already made 56 appearances for City, mostly as a left-back, but also occasionally in central defense. He is one of the executives on whom Pep Guardiola, the team manager, relies the most.
