While Atlético de Madrid needs to slim down, Thomas Lemar could be loaned out this season. A good deal to grab for OM?

What if Olympique de Marseille did another good job during this summer transfer window? After recruiting Geoffrey Kondogbia, Renan Lodi and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the Marseille leaders are on the lookout for the Thomas Lemar file, as revealed by Foot Mercato.

This Friday, Marca indicates that Atlético de Madrid could let slip the 2018 world champion. The Colchoneros need to reduce their workforce and their wage bill and Lemar is a candidate for departure, just like Saul Niguez. Marca add that Atlético could accept a loan for the former Monegasque which could make OM’s business easier.

However, an agreement should be reached on the amount of salary that will be covered, and on the possible purchase option that could be attached to the loan. But at least OM would not have to pay a transfer fee from this, which could be around 20 million euros.

A versatile midfielder, Lemar has the qualities to evolve on the left in a 4-4-2, the preferential system of Marcelino, the new coach of OM. The Spanish coach knows the Frenchman perfectly, who has been playing in La Liga since 2018. And as a reminder, OM have already picked up two players from Atlético this summer, with Kondogbia and Renan Lodi. The connection with Madrid seems to be working well…
