Last season, Vitinha was one of Luis Enrique’s best players at Paris Saint-Germain. Since the start of the 2024-2025 financial year, the Portuguese international has performed a little less well but he remains one of the elements on which the Spanish technician is particularly counting.
Asked to give his opinion on his coach, the former FC Porto player appeared somewhat embarrassed. “But I’m suspicious. Because I only have good things to say about him… He’s my coach, I’m not going to say bad things. In terms of relationships, individually he made me progress, he made me reach a level that I didn’t expect to reach so soon. I expected to achieve this, but not in a year. And he helped me individually to get to that,” he confided Monday evening, in the show “Rothen s’igne” on RMC.
Vitinha understands that Luis Enrique is sometimes criticized
The sports consultant then joked that Luis Enrique was his “dad”.
“I only have one dad, Vitinha replied with a laugh. But it’s true that I identify a lot with his idea of the game too, tactically. It’s hard for me to say something that’s not good. Even on a human level, he is incredible. Afterwards, I also understand that the media could have problems with him…”.
In Luis Enrique’s 4-3-3 tactical scheme, Vitinha plays this season in midfield alongside Warren Zaire-Emery and João Neves. Sometimes, the former La Roja coach starts Fabian Ruiz in place of one of these three players.
