Did you notice? Since last weekend, DAZN no longer offers Ligue 1 goals on social networks. For the 9th day of Ligue 1, we were only able to see a few scenes of joy after the matches, reactions, or little stolen moments in the corridors leading to the stadium. But no goal.
The (free) sharing of these goals was however one of the rare initiatives from DAZN to be praised since the start of the season. Perhaps even the only thing that the new Ligue 1 broadcaster has done well, say some observers of French football. But the British platform has decided to modify its strategy.
DAZN justified itself to L’Equipe: “At the time of launch (last August), DAZN had decided to push the goals for free on its social networks to establish the brand among the general public. Today we want to focus on subscriber satisfaction. »
DAZN stops, beIN Sports continues
Clearly, this news will not please Ligue 1 fans, who could keep an eye on their team’s performance. And while the number of DAZN subscribers is estimated to be very low, this withdrawal of goals on social networks will further reduce the visibility of the championship, which is not good for its future.
Note that certain goals will still remain visible during the weekend: those of the match broadcast on beIN Sports, Saturday at 5 p.m. The goals from Nice-Monaco (2-1) were shared this weekend, and beIN Sports intends to continue to do the same, according to L’Equipe.
