A year after his departure from PSG for Qatar, Marco Verratti is no longer the player who played the most Classics against OM.

After playing on Sunday afternoon with his Qatari club Al Arabi (for a 4-1 victory against Qatar SC with an assist to his credit), Marco Verratti most certainly supported his former PSG teammates during the Classic against at OM, at the Stade Vélodrome, for the 9th day of Ligue 1. For a very easy victory against the Phocaeans who were reduced to 10 in the 20th minute with the exclusion of Amine Harit.

The “Little Hibou” is no longer the Parisian record holder for PSG-OM played in history, he who played for the Rouge et Bleu from 2012 to 2023 (before being sold a year ago for 45 million ‘euros to a Qatari club). Marquinhos is also at 22 Classics contested in his career after the trip to Provence last weekend. The Brazilian defender turned club captain arrived in the capital in 2013.

Verratti never scored against OM

In 22 matches against rival Marseille, Verratti has a record of 16 wins, four draws and two defeats, without having scored (but being a decisive passer on three occasions). Marquinhos, for his part, has won 18 times and has had three draws and only one defeat (during the round of 16 of the Coupe de France in 2023 at the Vélodrome), for two goals scored (in 2015 and 2017, each time in Marseille) .

It is Steve Mandanda, OM goalkeeper for 14 seasons (from 2007 to 2016 with a year at Crystal Palace), who has played the most PSG-OM in history, with 30 Classics. The record of the “Fenomeno” is not great, with eight victories and 13 victories against the Parisians.
