Without Kylian Mbappé or realism in front of goal, Luis Enrique’s PSG already finds itself in a delicate position in the Champions League after its 1-0 victory against Girona, a defeat in the lair of Arsenal (2-0) and the result frustrating draw against PSV (1-1) on Tuesday evening at the Parc des Princes. The Rouge et Bleu continue with the reception of Atlético and a shock against Bayern, before matches against Salzburg, Manchester City (at the Park) and, finally on January 29, Stuttgart in Germany.
PSG is thus in 19th position after three days. In this place, the Parisians would play a play-off against the 13th or 14th, currently Benfica and Juventus, with a return match away. The winner of this play-off would face the 3rd or 4th in the general classification, currently Manchester City and AS Monaco. In the new formula, the table for the knockout phase is already determined, but the qualifiers have two potential opponents in the play-offs and the round of 16 (a draw will be made).
PSG against a French club?
The X account Football meets data made a projection of the rest of the league phase and PSG even finds itself in 21st position in the ranking. The French champions would then be play-offs (still playing the return match away) and would inherit 11th or 12th in the ranking, either Losc or AS Monaco! The winner of this jump-off would then fall to 5th or 6th overall, i.e. Inter and Arsenal according to statistical projections.
