According to information from theAFP published this Friday noon, the joint appeals committee of the Professional Football League (LFP) ruled in favor this morning of Kylian Mbappé in the dispute between him and PSG. It requires the French club to pay unpaid salaries and bonuses from the end of last season, when the star played within it. It is therefore a colossal sum that the capital club owes to its former striker: €55 million. The newspaper The Team indicated last night that the decision would go in this direction.

This huge amount, which PSG has put in reserve in its finances in case it loses in this affair, corresponds to the last three months of Kylian Mbappé’s salary (April, May and June 2024), as well as a loyalty bonus on which he had agreed with his former employer at the time of his contract extension in May 2022. But faced with his refusal to again extend this lease which ended last June, PSG simply “punished ” the player to leave free, without any transfer compensation to be paid.

PSG does not give up

First excluded from the summer tour in 2023, Mbappé finally reached an agreement with Nasser Al-Khelaïfi by waiving this certain bonuses, so that he could leave free at the end of the season, without spending an entire exercise on the bench, or even in reserve. “With the agreement I made with the president this summer, whatever my decision, we managed to protect all parties, to preserve the serenity of the club for the challenges to come, that is the most important thing.», Said the Blues star last January.

It is precisely on this sentence and other elements on which PSG relies to justify the salary deductions, forcing the player to turn to the League. This advocated mediation between the two camps. In the absence of an amendment to the employment contract, it had to be respected, the LFP requiring the employer to pay the sum. PSG refused until this dispute was brought before the Joint Appeals Committee. Despite the latter’s condemnation, the capital club is determined to continue its fight. Next step, the FFF, the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF) or the Industrial Tribunal.
