It’s a golden start to the season for Peter Bosz’s men. In the league, PSV Eindhoven remained, before the start of this ninth day, on an incredible series of eight consecutive victories. And the Boeren can add a new success to their table. Indeed, at the AFAS Stadion, they continued their momentum by winning 2-1 against Alkmaar. It didn’t take long for PSV to open the score. From the 15th minute of play, Luuk de Jong propelled a ball from Guus Til into the opposing cage (15th, 0-1). A few minutes later, it was Noa Lang’s turn to double the lead (22nd, 0-2). Denso Kasius’ goal (90th, 1-2) ultimately changed nothing in the outcome of the game.

With this new victory, PSV consolidates its first place in the Eredivisie table, with its 27 points, but also with a great start to the season. Author of several cards since the resumption, including two very large victories against Almere City (7-1) and Waalwijk (5-1), the club is on track to lift a trophy again at the end of the year, after having won his 25th title last year. Hailed by fans and the press, the good work of Peter Bosz, former Lyon coach (May 2021 – October 2022), is confirmed game after game.

An offensive armada against Paris

The club can now count on the return to form of Luuk de Jong (6 goals, 4 assists), as well as the good performances of his compatriot Guus Til (4 goals, 2 assists) and the American Malik Tillman, who arrived from Bayern Munich this summer for 12 million euros, and who also has 4 goals and two freebies in 11 games. In defense, Ryan Flamingo and Frenchman Olivier Boscagli also provide. Also note the presence on the sidelines of the Croatian Ivan Perišić, who brings his very high level experience, acquired between Bayern, Tottenham and Inter Milan.

However, this start to the year at the national level is a little different when we take a look at that in the European Cup. With its setback against Juventus (3-1) and its draw against Sporting (1-1), PSV did not start the Champions League in the best way. The Reds and Whites will face Paris Saint-Germain in their next match, in a clash that already promises to be intense. Paris will be keen to raise its head after the bitter defeat against Arsenal (2-0) and Eindhoven will therefore hope, for its part, to finally launch its European season.
