Manchester United legend Eric Cantona has come to the defense of Sir Alex Ferguson after his contract with the club was terminated by INEOS.

Sir Alex saw his multi-million pound contract to act as the club’s global ambassador terminated this week by Manchester United co-owners INEOS as part of a continuing cost-cutting drive at the club. The Scot has reportedly resigned from his role “amicably” and will retain a non-executive directorship at Old Trafford.

United’s decision to remove Sir Alex from its payroll was met with anger by some Manchester United staff, who were upset by the way INEOS treated a man who has won numerous titles, including 13 titles championship and two Champions League crowns with the Red Devils. Cantona, who was brought to the club by the Scot and was a catalyst for United’s success under Sir Alex, criticized the decision by United’s owners.

Cantona annoyed

Cantona posted on Instagram: “Sir Alex Ferguson should be able to do whatever he wants at the club until the day he dies. What a lack of respect. This is totally scandalous. Sir Alex Ferguson will be my boss forever! And I throw them all in a big bag of shit! »

The measure is the latest in a series of cost-cutting measures implemented by INEOS. The club also announced plans to cut 250 jobs.
