Mahrez, decline!

Riyad Mahrez signed one of his worst performances for Algeria on Thursday evening.

Thursday evening, in Annaba, Riyad Mahrez honored his 96e
cape with the Algerian national team. And it may very well be his last. The former Manchester City player was quite simply the most disappointing player on the pitch.

While he had the armband around his arm, Mahrez delivered a performance unworthy of his status. He almost failed at everything he did. However, the context was ideal, with weak opposition in front. His selection also unfolded and defeated Togo with a score of 5 to 1.

Mahrez no longer shines with his country

It was even surprising to see Mahrez stay on the field for so long since Vladimir Petkovic, the Fennecs coach, only took him out in the 75th.e minute of play. The one who replaced him, in the person of Amine Gouiri, was significantly more efficient in barely a quarter of an hour spent on the field.

After this match, the current resident of the Saudi Pro League received thunderous criticism in his country. Everyone invited him to retire internationally and leave his place to younger people. A sad end for the one who gave so much to the Greens.

Mahrez still had the support of the staff. Nabil Neghiz, the assistant coach, said he deserved to be in the selection, whether he was good or not. Statements which, however, only added fuel to the fire.
