Christophe Dugarry is known for not having his tongue in his pocket. But he doesn’t only tell the truth and sometimes his words are hurtful. The 98 world champion does not hide that his analyzes have sometimes been unfair.

Among the people he criticized in the past and whom he regrets today is Pablo Longoria, the president of OM. Last May, he notably pointed out his alleged poor work on the transfer market. “We saw all season that this team was average, but once again, who chose these players? (…) We wonder about the players, but I want to ask the question about the president. “He must come with all his responsibilities, hand in his shirt and resign.”

Dugarry says bravo to Longoria

Today, he returns to his comments and expresses his mea culpa to the strong man of the Marseille club: “I was very hard on him because I found him to be a troublemaker more than anything else. I changed my mind about Longoria. He is a man of conviction who is not afraid to do things. He came up with ideas and he embraces them. The guy is hyper active, sometimes too much. He was wrong but how can I not forgive when someone says I made mistakes. I like people who recognize these errors because no one has the truth.”

An emblematic player for Marseille at the end of the 90s, Dugarry welcomes the recent transformation of his former team: “What OM has become today is coherent. There are also strong things. And he also convinced his shareholder to put in some money. I want to say well done.”
