Kylian Mbappé’s decision not to appear for the national team caused a lot of noise.

The Blues captain returned to the starting XI for Real Madrid’s 2-0 win over Villarreal in La Liga at the weekend. However, this decision would have annoyed Didier Deschamps, who chose not to call him up for the Nations League matches next week.

Deschamps confirmed he spoke with Mbappé and the pair agreed a deal for him to stay in Madrid, as he recovers from a hamstring problem. Mbappé was not directly injured, but it looked like he needed rest and Deschamps agreed.

Deschamps annoyed

Former French international Patrice Evra has criticized Mbappé’s conduct on the issue, saying Deschamps treats Real Madrid differently to his management of Paris Saint-Germain. In addition to Evra’s comments, French newspaper L’Equipe also commented on the controversy, saying that Mbappé ” damages his image and puts the coach in a difficult position.”

Mbappé will also not make any late move to join Deschamps’ team which will face Israel in Budapest on October 10.
