Delicate week for Paris Saint-Germain. This Sunday evening, at the end of the 7th day of Ligue 1, the capital club stalled against OGC Nice with a score of 1 goal all.

Surprised by a goal from Ali Abdi at the end of the first period, the Parisians were able to react as soon as they returned from the locker room thanks to a goal from Nuno Mendes.

This result does not suit Luis Enrique’s men who leave first place to AS Monaco. The Rouge et Bleu are now 2 points behind the Monegasques in the standings.

For the people of Nice, it’s a good point taken against one of the leaders of the championship. Franck Haise’s players move up to 9th position in Ligue 1 with 9 points on the clock.

OGC Nice enterprising in the first period

OGC Nice wanted to put in a solid match against the Rouge et Bleu. And from the first minutes, the Aiglons put the Parisians under pressure and in difficulty by being aggressive in the duels and opting for rapid transitions forward, behind the Parisian defense.

Opposite, the Rouge et Bleu are unable to create speed and rhythm in their opponents’ half. And despite a strong moment, Luis Enrique’s players will be surprised at the end of the first period.

Ali Abdi receives a corner from the left to the right behind and sends a shot with his left foot, blocked which goes in the direction of the Parisian goal (1-0, 39th).

A sharper PSG but…

After a disappointing first period and below its standards, the Parisians will show a better face. Luis Enrique makes a tactical change to counter Franck Haise. Randal Kolo Muani gives way to Kang-In Lee at the forefront of the attack.

A change which will pay off for the Ile-de-France residents in the game, but especially in the finish. Ousmane Dembélé finds Nuno Mendes at the edge of the area. The Portuguese unleashes a left shot full of finesse which will deceive Bulka and reset the counters to 0 (1-1, 52nd).

Despite several chances and strong possession of the ball, the Parisians were not able to score this second goal and snatch the victory. Now it’s time for the international break.

Ousmane Dembélé’s partners will face RC Strasbourg on October 19 as part of the 8th day of Ligue 1. For its part, OGC Nice will travel to FC Nantes on October 20.
