AS Monaco dominated Rennes at home this Saturday (2-1) and took control of Ligue 1.

Adi Hutter’s AS Monaco continues its march forward in the French championship. While returning from a perilous trip to Croatia on behalf of the C1, the Monegasques found the necessary resources to dispose of Rennes. They won 2-1 and their success cannot be disputed.

We didn’t have to wait to see the princely team break away at the mark. From the 6e minute, the score was unlocked. Thilo Kehrer rose higher than everyone in the area to take a corner from Eliesse Ben Seghir. The German occasionally confirmed his propensity to score from set pieces this season. “It’s worked on in training,” he declared during the break at the microphone of DAZN.

Monaco in full control

The former Parisian was not the only one to benefit from the Moroccan international’s offering. At the 22e minute, it was Folarin Balogun who found himself receiving a brilliant pass from the Monegasque number 7. In the meantime, the Rouge et Noir had managed to get back on track thanks to a cannonball from Ludovic Blas from 20 meters. A beautiful goal, but which ultimately was of no use to the SRFC.

The second period of the game passed without a goal scored. And without too many highlights. Monaco managed their meager lead on the scoreboard well. In the end, this narrow success allows Zakaria and his partners to temporarily take the lead in the ranking. Sunday evening, they will be calm in front of the TV to see their pursuer PSG compete against Nice.
