Man City: Pep Guardiola’s big rant

The overload of calendars is a subject which is shaking up football news more than ever. While the big clubs play an increasingly exorbitant number of matches per season each year, anger is brewing among football players. Since the start of the 2024/2025 financial year, there have been serious injuries one after the other (Rodri, Ter Stegen, etc.), but nothing seems to move the world football authorities, quite the contrary.

After seeing Rodri lost following a rupture of the cruciate ligaments – while the latter was already expressing his anger regarding the overload of matches – Pep Guardiola saw one of his requests, to lighten this hellish schedule, be refused by the Premier League. “After the (coming summer) holidays, the Premier League will not allow us and Chelsea, I believe, or any teams that are going to the World Cup, to postpone the first two games of the season 2025/2026 to be able to recover… THANK YOU VERY MUCH…”lamented the Catalan. A new decision which risks causing a lot of ink to flow across the Channel.
