Tottenham attacking midfielder Xavi Simons is taking advantage of his convalescence to prepare for the rest of his career. Injured in the knee and suffering a rupture of the cruciate ligaments last April against Wolverhampton, the 23-year-old Dutch international was admitted to the program Crossover Into Business from Harvard: distance learning intended for professional athletes to support them in their entrepreneurial projects during and after their career. “Football remains my priority, but I also want to continue learning and progressing off the field”he explained on LinkedIn.

Simons particularly wishes to better understand the economic issues of football and exchange with professionals from other sectors. In recent weeks, he traveled to the United States, where he notably visited Harvard in Boston and met several figures in American sport, including Jayson Tatum, player of the Boston Celtics, and David Pastrňák, captain of the Boston Bruins. Recruited by Tottenham from Leipzig for around 60 million euros last year, the Dutchman had scored six goals and provided seven assists in 43 games before his injury, which also deprived him of the World Cup with his selection.
