Left out of the last list of the Blues, Jean-Philippe Mateta does not intend to turn his back on the France team. The Crystal Palace striker, who had been selected for the 2026 World Cup, remains hopeful of quickly returning to the Blues as he confided exclusively to After England on RMC. “I know it’s not over”he said, determined to continue working to convince the new coach. The 29-year-old Frenchman intends to rely on his performances with Crystal Palace to return to the plans of the France team.
“I will do everything to rejoin the group. Playing for Zidane? It would be a dream, he is one of the best players in the history of the France team. It would be a dream, as it was a dream to play under Deschamps. I will do everything to be called up in November”added the 29-year-old striker. As a reminder, Mateta had an encouraging first international period, with six caps and two goals on the clock. The Blues will face Italy and Turkey in the Nations League on November 12 and 15.
