The situation at Manchester City could push several executives to think about their future in the event of heavy sanctions after the affair of the 115 financial accusations. To illustrate this scenario, the Daily Mail looks back at the precedent of Juventus in 2006: after relegation to Serie B in the wake of the Calciopoli scandal, Zlatan Ibrahimović says he immediately asked his agent to find him a way out. Several stars then left Turin, while others chose to stay despite the storm.

The English media thus wonders about the reaction of the Mancunian locker room if City were to suffer a particularly severe sanction. Erling Haaland, in particular, could hardly be kept with income corresponding to that of a club playing in the Championship, while players less historically attached to the Cityzens could consider leaving. Conversely, Phil Foden, Rico Lewis or Nico O’Reilly, all linked to the club for a long time, could more embody a form of loyalty comparable to that of Gianluigi Buffon, Alessandro Del Piero or Pavel Nedved at the time. A comparison which remains hypothetical, but which already raises the question of which players would choose to stay if Manchester City were to experience a major sporting and financial fall.
