Manchester City was quick to react. On September 29, the Premier League officially found the Mancunian club guilty of 114 financial offenses. A real thunderclap to which the Cityzens reacted this Friday noon by confirming that they were appealing, well before the sanctions were announced.
“Manchester City Football Club confirms that, on Thursday 1 October 2026 at 7 p.m., the Club lodged a full appeal against the opinion given by the Premier League Commission, as part of the disciplinary proceedings initiated by the latter. The club’s firm position is that, for multiple reasons, this opinion contains manifest and substantial errors, both in law, principle and fact, and is unreliable. The club is innocent of the accusations made by the Premier League and has a comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence to support all of its positions regarding this matter. We will continue to follow existing procedures and are necessarily limited in what further we can say until all procedures are completed.”we can read in the press release.
