The four championships particularly wish to be more involved in discussions concerning the future of football and are calling for the opening of a wider consultation. Among the issues they want to put back on the table is the international calendar, regularly at the heart of tensions between the different institutions.
This initiative comes at a time when Gianni Infantino is going through a particularly turbulent period, particularly after the opposition encountered by his plan to privatize FIFA. The four leagues should not, however, go so far as to directly demand his departure. Their position above all reinforces a protest already carried out by several players in world football. UEFA and Concacaf have notably increased the pressure in recent weeks, before the Asian Confederation in turn joined the movement.
