According to The Teamthe podiatrist was replaced by Serge Isidoro at the last minute. In question: an interview given in mid-August to RMC Sportin which Rétali notably recounted his joy and surprise at having been chosen to join Zidane’s team. A media release which would not have been validated in advance by the French Football Federation.
This media intervention would have especially displeased Hervé Collado, the new doctor of the Blues, with whom the podiatrist had to work within the staff. According to The Teamthe duty of reserve would not have been respected, which would have led to his replacement by Serge Isidoro. Rétali had, however, already been presented as one of the members of Zidane’s new team and had publicly expressed his astonishment at this appointment. An adventure which was to begin with the Blues, but which ultimately ended even before its first gathering.
