Paris deprived of final by UEFA

UEFA has decided to reject the candidacy of the FFF, which wanted to host the final of the 2028 or 2029 Europa League in Paris, at the Parc des Princes.

The verdict is in. Eager to host the 2028 or 2029 Europa League final at the Parc des Princes, the French Football Federation saw its candidacy rejected by UEFA.

The FFF had requested the European football body to organize one of the two finals, with the support of the Île-de-France region and its president Valérie Pécresse. The latter even contacted Aleksander Ceferin in person “to assure him that it would facilitate the necessary procedures”explain

UEFA chooses Bucharest and Belgrade

It was ultimately Bucharest (Arena Nationala) in 2028 and Belgrade (National Stadium) in 2029 which were preferred to Paris.

As a reminder, the Parc des Princes hosted the final of the UEFA Cup, the old version of the Europa League, in 1998. The poster pitted Ronaldo “Fenomeno”’s Inter Milan against Lazio Rome. The Nerazzurri won 3-0.
