Real Madrid travel to Elche this Tuesday for the 5th day of La Liga, with the obligation to stay in contact with FC Barcelona in the standings. After its convincing victory against Rayo Vallecano last weekend (4-1), Casa Blanca wants to continue its momentum and avoid further lost points in the title race. Furthermore, José Mourinho was notably questioned about the situation of Yan Diomandé, recruited for 140 million euros, but started only once since his arrival, with an unconvincing performance against Rayo.

The Special One then wanted to put the Ivorian’s situation into perspective and above all recalled the abundance of solutions available to him in the offensive sector. “He lacks nothing. If he was on any other team in the world, he would play 90 minutes every game. We have many options, Diomandé, Vini, Arda, Brahim, then Rodrygo soon… So talking about an indisputable starter is difficult. » For Mourinho, Diomandé’s status therefore does not reflect a lack of quality, but simply the very strong competition at Real Madrid, even if the young 19-year-old player will necessarily have to do better.
