The day after Cagliari’s victory on Atalanta’s pitch (2-1), Daniel Maldini was involved in a road accident in Milan. According to the Italian press, notably La Gazzetta dello Sportthe player was the victim of a collision around 5:15 a.m., before being taken to hospital for examinations. The six people involved were slightly injured and Paolo Maldini’s son was quickly able to return home, his lawyer ensuring that he was in good health and without serious injuries.
A few hours earlier, Maldini had been the hero of the evening with Cagliari, scoring the winning goal in Bergamo from the penalty spot. But the extra-sporting episode could have consequences since his driving license was withdrawn after a positive alcohol test, with levels of 0.91 then 0.89 g/l reported by ANSA.
