Imperial since the start of this 2026-2027 financial year, FC Barcelona traveled to Levante this Sunday during the 5th day of La Liga. A few hours after Real Madrid’s victory against Rayo, the Blaugranas had the opportunity to regain a three-point lead at the top of the championship. To do this, Hansi Flick opted for his traditional 4-3-3 with Gordon, Raphinha and Lamine Yamal on the attacking front while Rodri started in midfield. Opposite, Luis Castro aligned the same tactical system and counted on his scorer Petar Ratkov to shake the Culers. A meeting where the hierarchy would finally quickly be respected… Dominant from the first minutes, Barça found the fault on their first real opportunity.
A Barcelona revelation, Ideally launched thanks to its young 19-year-old left side, the FCB then continued with the same dynamic as that seen since the start of the season: a dominating team, united and leaving no respite to its opponent. If the locals tried to stop this infernal machine with two attempts from Ratkov and BruguĂ© (16th), the Catalan defense kept watch. And the offensive players continued to enjoy. Unstoppable in recent weeks, Raphinha once again stood out. Served in depth, the Brazilian took advantage of Mandi’s failed intervention to control perfectly and deliver a caviar behind Lamine Yamal who made the break in the empty goal (2-0, 19th).
Barça received 5 out of 5
Once again unplayable, Barça played their football at the Ciutat de Valencia. In total control despite a few timid incursions from the Granotes, Pedri’s teammates managed their lead and logically took the lead at the break. Returning from the locker room, Christensen replaced Martin but nothing changed: Levante suffered, Barça dominated and flew a little further. On a new breakthrough from Lamine Yamal, Mandi was at fault with one hand and conceded a penalty which the La Roja star transformed without trembling (3-0, 48th). In the shelter, the Blaugranas gave themselves some scares defensively, without allowing Levante to restart. Still brilliant, Raphinha took advantage of a serve from Gordon to try his luck, but his shot narrowly escaped the opposing target (55th).
In the last half hour, the locals became somewhat bolder but neither Bardeli nor Romero found the net (61st). Despite these two big situations, Barça did not weaken. Hansi Flick brought new blood with the entries of Olmo, Adeyemi and Bernal while Lamine Yamal, Gordon and Pedri gave up their place. Changes which disturbed the Blaugrana collective, much less sovereign at the end of the match, like this big blunder by Xavi Espart which allowed Romero to save the honor (3-1, 79th). The Culers even saw Levante come back to within a small goal in the final seconds when Brugué sowed discord in the Barcelona defense and offered a breathtaking end to the match (3-2, 88th). Author of an exceptional rush in added time, Adeyemi finally sealed the victory for his team by concluding with a perfect hook-strike sequence from the right to the near post (4-2, 90+3rd). With this victory, FC Barcelona achieves a fifth success in a row in the league and remains leader more than ever. For its part, Levante is in 13th place.
